Schedule

The Current Convention Schedule is now available and, as always, subject to change and improvement.

Clinics

Cascadian International 2010 will concentrate on skill and “How-To” workshops. “Make and Take Clinics” are also scheduled. Clinics will feature a wide variety by MMRs like Paul Scoles, Di Voss, Jack Hamilton, and Jack Burgess from the PCR in California. See The Current Clinic Schedule.

Layout Tours

The Current Layout Tour Schedule is now available. Don't miss the Layout SUPER TOUR, an 8+ hour extravaganza all day Sunday! Also check the Current Open House Schedule.

The Seattle area is reknown for its excellent home and club layouts and the variety of scales and themes available. You will not be disappointed by the selection we offer. You will have two ways to visit: Open Houses, which avoid the expense of bus travel and allow you to spend more time at the layouts you enjoy most because you drive yourself at a time convenient to you; and, Guided Tours, where you ride a bus between layouts and let someone else worry about maps and parking.

Operating Sessions

Here's your chance to run on some truly great model railroads! Visit the Current Operating Sessions Schedule now and sign up before 8 PM Sunday, September 12th! Admissions are closing! Email Steve Haas today with your choices.

Prototype tours

While there are a number of prototype facilities of interest in the Seattle area, security concerns make it difficult to schedule a visit. The Cascadian International 2010 Convention Team is proud to offer you some quality tours you can't get any other way. See The Current Prototype Tour Schedule.

Membership Meeting

The primary purpose of the annual convention is to provide for the required annual meeting of the PNR membership. To ensure that members have an opportunity to meet with their elected representative, discuss issues of significance to the members, and receive status updates on the state of the region, the membership meeting will be scheduled for Friday September 17. It will be the first event of the morning and no other convention activity will be scheduled at that time.

Points of Interest

The Seattle area is filled with wonderful destinations and the best month of the year to visit here is September! You simply must bring your family along to share in all the wonderful places hereabout, a few of which are listed under Points of Interest.

Manufacturers

Sandi Truitt of Sandi’s Small Construction Co., will be in the hotel Atrium displaying her N and HO scale bridges and trestles.

Contest

Bring your scratch-built and kit-built models and photos to the Contest Room on Thursday or Friday before the judging begins at 3:00 pm. Pick up your entries Saturday. Models may also receive A.P. judging at the same time. Here is your Complete Contest Information.

Ice Cream Social & Swap Meet

Those arriving on Wednesday can enjoy an Ice Cream Social — but no dripping on the swap tables, please! And if you have something to sell, tables are free to members! (But you have to mind your table yourself.) Vendors may set up tables from 5–6 PM. Sales are from 6–9 PM.

Banquet

The Banquet is scheduled for Saturday evening at 7:00 PM. See the Banquet Details.

Volunteers Needed!

Do yourself a favor: email Russ Segner or call him at 425-228-7327 and volunteer a couple of your convention hours to help all of us have a better experience. You feel good about yourself when you share your love of model railroading with others. You'll be glad you did!

Cost

Your Cascadian International 2010 Host Committee has clearly received the message that cost of conventions has grown well out of proportion to the value received. To rectify that problem and to expand the availability of the convention activities to more members, every effort is being made to reduce and limit the basic costs of attendance. Many of the cost drivers of previous convention, such as patches, pins, and other mementoes, have been eliminated. Choice of what events and activities to attend has been expanded with all “extra fare” items offered as optional to the attendee.

Please complete and submit your registration information ASAP. You will be contacted with additional information regarding clinics and tours as the information is firmed up. Providing your email address is critical to maintaining this registration effort and convention cost as low as possible. Thank you for your support.
